UCLA IronBruin

This weekend OneTri.com will be at the UCLA IronBruin triathlon!!!

Well, actually, this Sunday March 8 to be exact. We be rising and shining at 4:30 am to get there by 5:30!! Jealous?
I am NOT a morning person, yet I'm always planning the events that start the earliest! The very first event I planned for OneTri.com was also the first triathlon I raced, and I did not get an OUNCE of sleep! Hopefully this event, my coffee will kick in before I encounter people...

3 of our guys are running the race in the sponsor challenge group! They're very fast, so look for the OneTri.com guys flashing by!
I will be running our booth at the expo, so come by to say hi and spin our free prize wheel!

Looking forward to another "tri" at overcoming my morning grumpies!

So I don't necessarily want to go to Arizona for a massage, but that would be nice.

Who couldn't use one of those right now? With the economy how it is, money being tight and so much pressure at work I think we're all feeling the pain. Mine is in my upper back. I haven't had this pain since I was writing my senior thesis and THAT had me sprawled on the floor. This time it's not that bad.. yet.
I had some wine last night (maybe a little more than "some") and it definitely helped relax my muscles.

Something I'm working on is helping my body to handle stress differently. I don't even know I'm stressing until I feel it in my body, and by that time it's too late! Like my brother told me, we all have different ways of handling it and different ways of helping it. There's no widespread solution to alleviating stress and the pain that may or may not come with it, however, there is a way to help. It's all in your way of thinking. You have to choose to be positive and realize that in the long run-things will be okay.

Not to belittle our pains and stresses, but there is ALWAYS someone who is worse off than we are. We have to be thankful for the freedom and the things that we do have, especially amazing friends and family. Wow-this is getting a little too sentimental haha.

To sum it up: Take a break, breathe, and try to always see the positive in things. It makes life so much more beautiful!

After Afterthoughts... Way Afterthoughts.

Woopsies!
I would like to think of this large gap between blogs as a personal time of recuperating and regathering myself during the off-season.
Big news-I am now officially a triathlete! I had my first triathlon December 14 (weird to think of it as last year) and rocked it! It was hard because I was running our company's booth at the same time but, nevertheless, I had an amazing experience. OneTri.com rocked the expo and I rocked my triathlon. Afterwards, I felt so accomplished and proud of myself. The impossible seems so minute after it's been overcome. I would love to say that I have 800 triathlons lined up for me this season, but there are quite a few things hindering me from taking on the triathlon race list at full force.
I will be signing up for the Danskin SHERox triathlon in Disneyland though! Just waiting... for registration to open!
It will be another sprint and not yet an ocean tri, but it will be in the lake/pond under one of the roller coasters in California Adventure!
You could say that I'm a little scared of an ocean swim as I have not even had any proper swim training quite yet. THAT, my friends, is on my list of things to do this year!
Doing that triathlon in December has really helped me understand the world that I am working in (I am Marketing Director for www.onetri.com) and using my ethnographic marketing, I am better able to reach out to the triathlon community.
I'm excited to keep learning and keep doing and keep tri'ing!

Triath-what?

Sooooooo....
I will be doing my first triathlon in December. December 14th to be exact.
There's such a stigma placed on the word "triathlon" that it seems like such an impossible endeavor to accomplish. Blood, sweat, and tears go into things like that, and I'm not sure I'm ready for that gruelling task! Can I even do it?
Well, sticking with the notion that there's nothing I can't do if I set goals for myself, I've decided that yes, indeed, I can do a triathlon.

You know why?

There's one called a Sprint. It's a 600m swim (roughly 12 laps in a 50m pool), a 12 mile bike, and a 5k. THAT-can be done. Separate those legs into individual training sessions, and it can be accomplished quicker than I think. Maybe if I bribe myself with Laventina's pizza at the end of it, I'll do it even faster!

You can do it too!

Feeling Stagnant?

Several times in life we come across a point where we just feel stuck. Whether it be the monotony of our daily routines or perhaps a job that we just aren't getting the most out of. Whatever it may be, there's always an answer.

What I've found throughout my journey in life is the excitement of a new adventure always spices up any ounce of stagnancy. Trying new things has several advantages: new knowledge, excitement, perhaps a new passion, a lead into a new path in life, emotional stimulants, and most of all-something different.

One of the worst things to do is let your "self" become lost in the mix of things. Life can become very demanding and also very routine leading some people to become unhappy with themselves and with their life. What can be done? Get up and go try something new!

Set some goals that will give you something to work towards. The ultimate reward of reaching those goals is more than enough to give things a spin. Some great things to try could be: training for a triathlon for a full body adventure, joining a book club for intellectual stimulants, learning an instrument or a new type of art, or even something like underwater basket weaving. Whatever interests you may have, take time to pursue them! It will change your life!
