I live this life of adventure, but where has it been? I can certainly tell you it's been there, but not here. Here as in here - this blog. I need writing back in my life. As I know I have an extremely low readership, I will continue to practice my writing and the pouring out of my thoughts until I arrive at a point where I can make a difference. I will be getting back in touch with my writing, myself and this adventure we call "Life".

As we're coming to an end on 2010, I not only sit and reflect on where my year has gone and my goals for next year, but also on the time and season we are in right now. December, Christmas, Hanukkah, hope, joy, love, giving... do I encompass those last four? As my car got towed this morning and an unextremely appealing array of events unfolded, I let myself go and forgot that everything will be okay in the end. It is so easy to get caught up in the little things and forget the life that is passing us by every day. THAT, my friends, will be the theme of the blog posts from now on.

Carpe Diem, live the moment, remember everything, be present, don't sweat the small stuff, trust things will be great. This life is beautiful, and I'm going to live it.

Cheers everyone!Stinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15410556112117994261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5996651645282580040.post-87677368226748102872009-04-08T22:20:00.000-07:002009-04-08T22:33:13.990-07:00Is This Me?

So a lot of my tweets lately have been about whether I'm going to be able to run - aka breathe when I'm running. I'm not one to make up excuses for why my running's been poor. I actually thought that I had just been slacking until I realized that I couldn't breathe. My last doctor said I could have sports induced asthma, which is not uncommon for someone like myself that's amping up their exercise routines. She gave me a sample inhaler to try, and it worked like a charm.

What happened? I lost my health insurance and the inhaler ran out. What do I do? Well... as stubborn as I am, I never want to depend on medicine or any substance to make me better or fix things. I feel like we can work our way through things. In my case, train through it.

That has not been working lately. I can barely run a mile and a half without my entire body shutting down. I'm hoping that the girl in the picture is not me and will be doing some extensive online research to find ways to train through this. Any tips will be very much appreciated. I'll keep everyone updated with my progress as I still would like to train for a half marathon!Stinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15410556112117994261noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5996651645282580040.post-42344205173047354482009-04-07T21:48:00.000-07:002009-04-07T21:57:24.923-07:00MMMMMMMM
I've come across an amazingly delicious nutritional product for maintaining the optimal triathlon nutrition plan. Not only does this bar combine two of my favorite flavors, it actually tastes like a candy bar! Soft and easy to eat, I immediately felt my hunger suppressed within a few minutes. Not sure if it's the placebo effect or not, but this is a great way to keep yourself from going back for extra calories when you don't need them. Add this into your nutritional plan to stay on track. This makes a great snack, or if you're trying to lose weight, a good breakfast or lunch! I am a big fan! The only drawback is - it tastes so good that I keep wanting more...

From OneTri.com:
"Forze GPS Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar is the first weight management tool designed specifically for athletes. Forze GPS Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar uses a patented blend of healthy fats, protein and calcium, plus added fiber to activate the body’s natural appetite control signal. Forze GPS Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar is designed to be taken between meals, as a snack replacement and to leave you feeling satisfied longer. Forze GPS helps control your hunger so you achieve your performance goals. Forze GPS Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar is the first and only nutrition tool formulated especially to help athletes reach and maintain their optimal performance weight. The key to getting leaner is appetite regulation. Specifically, your objective is to sustain a diet that satisfies your appetite each day without supplying more calories than you need. Most people, and even many athletes, find it difficult to satisfy their appetite each day without eating more calories than they need and consequently accumulating excess body fat stores. Forze GPS Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar solves this problem by satisfying your appetite in a calorically efficient manner. Simply put: Forze GPS Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar provides more satiety (or appetite satisfaction) with fewer calories than any other food. By adding Forze GPS Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars to your diet you will naturally eat less over the course of the day without feeling hungry, and as a result you will become leaner and perform better.

Because it contains optimal amounts of each of these nutrients and few carbs and saturated fats, Forze GPS Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar yields as much satiety as a large snack with much fewer calories. The results of numerous studies on the Forze GPS formulation have demonstrated that it:

Extends the feeling of fullness for up to 3.5 hours after eating
Decreases food intake up to 20%
Slows gastric emptying
Acts on the appetite centers of the brain with 4-6 minutes.

Best of all, Forze GPS Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar achieves all of these results with ingredients from real foods. In Forze GPS, nature and science have come together to create the ultimate nutrition tool to help athletes get leaner and perform better."Stinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15410556112117994261noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5996651645282580040.post-57915238784737741862009-03-27T20:05:00.000-07:002009-03-27T20:28:30.469-07:00Shoe Review #1!
As the Director of Marketing and Assistant Buyer for OneTri.com, I get to test out products that we carry and see how they truly work. The latest product that I've tried is the Zoot Sports ULTRA Tempo+2 Shoe for 2009. Conveniently enough, I have just decided to do a half marathon in eight weeks, so this shoe will play a vital role in my running and racing development.

I have thrown my old running shoes to the corner to try these shoes out, and they made a world of a difference! I immediately noticed a quicker toe-off as well as added comfort and just enough stability in the midsole. These shoes are specifically designed for fast transitions and I had no trouble getting them on and off quickly with the quick lace system and grabbers on the heel and tongue. I can wear this shoes with our without socks, and with the great ventilation, my feet will stay as cool and dry as possible. I wouldn't recommend running off-road in these as they are meant for pavement and solid ground running, but they're definitely alright on the treadmill! And not only did my stride quicken and my run look good, but the shoes themselves look great on me :) These come highly recommended. I'll keep you updated as my training begins this weekend!

Now I just have to work on overcoming this stupid sports-induced asthma... Tips are welcome!

Well mine is!)
Now, being Irish and all, I am not only excited to celebrate tomorrow, but I am also contractually obligated to celebrate because of my ancestry. I have stocked up on supplies weeks in advance including all the green money can buy, a clover headband, green suspenders and plenty of beads. We go big.

And don't worry-the festivities start AFTER work. I will not be sneaking my flask in for beer-thirty. I have to say, I'm a little jealous of the crew going at 8am to begin their festivities, but I know that the company I'll be with and the good times that we'll have will bring more than enough cheer to last me until next year.

I'll leave you with this Irish blessing, and I hope that your day tomorrow is full of the great Irish spirit!

May you always have
Walls for the winds,
A roof for the rain,
Tea beside the fire,
Laughter to cheer you,
Those you love near you,
And all your heart might desire!

And P.S. With the economy how it is, money being tight and so much pressure at work I think we're all feeling the pain. Mine is in my upper back. I haven't had this pain since I was writing my senior thesis and THAT had me sprawled on the floor. This time it's not that bad.. yet.
I had some wine last night (maybe a little more than "some") and it definitely helped relax my muscles.

Something I'm working on is helping my body to handle stress differently. I don't even know I'm stressing until I feel it in my body, and by that time it's too late! Like my brother told me, we all have different ways of handling it and different ways of helping it. There's no widespread solution to alleviating stress and the pain that may or may not come with it, however, there is a way to help. It's all in your way of thinking. You have to choose to be positive and realize that in the long run-things will be okay.

Not to belittle our pains and stresses, but there is ALWAYS someone who is worse off than we are. We have to be thankful for the freedom and the things that we do have, especially amazing friends and family. Wow-this is getting a little too sentimental haha.

To sum it up: Take a break, breathe, and try to always see the positive in things. It makes life so much more beautiful!Stinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15410556112117994261noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5996651645282580040.post-25940959785398434602009-02-25T22:15:00.000-08:002009-02-25T22:22:31.238-08:00<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_l1ExWWAdf0U/SaY1DdMi_RI/AAAAAAAAADI/aQC5Wo7grSk/s200/Cristina+Pics+006.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306987544395840786" />
I would LOVE to be here right now.Stinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15410556112117994261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5996651645282580040.post-52005102526027219672009-02-24T21:22:00.001-08:002009-02-24T21:36:34.871-08:00After Afterthoughts... I had my first triathlon December 14 (weird to think of it as last year) and rocked it! It was hard because I was running our company's booth at the same time but, nevertheless, I had an amazing experience. OneTri.com rocked the expo and I rocked my triathlon. Afterwards, I felt so accomplished and proud of myself. The impossible seems so minute after it's been overcome. I would love to say that I have 800 triathlons lined up for me this season, but there are quite a few things hindering me from taking on the triathlon race list at full force.
I will be signing up for the Danskin SHERox triathlon in Disneyland though! Just waiting... for registration to open!
It will be another sprint and not yet an ocean tri, but it will be in the lake/pond under one of the roller coasters in California Adventure!
You could say that I'm a little scared of an ocean swim as I have not even had any proper swim training quite yet. THAT, my friends, is on my list of things to do this year!
Doing that triathlon in December has really helped me understand the world that I am working in (I am Marketing Director for www.onetri.com) and using my ethnographic marketing, I am better able to reach out to the triathlon community.
I'm excited to keep learning and keep doing and keep tri'ing!

Follow me on twitter: stinagrace

Talk to you soon!Stinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15410556112117994261noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5996651645282580040.post-58249381506646825982008-11-12T21:25:00.001-08:002008-11-12T21:25:59.911-08:00Turbo Kick BoxingKicked my ass last night.

Can't wait for the next one!Stinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15410556112117994261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5996651645282580040.post-63207319636994235602008-10-27T17:11:00.000-07:002008-10-27T17:15:33.078-07:00Triath-what?Sooooooo....
I will be doing my first triathlon in December. December 14th to be exact.
There's such a stigma placed on the word "triathlon" that it seems like such an impossible endeavor to accomplish. Blood, sweat, and tears go into things like that, and I'm not sure I'm ready for that gruelling task! Can I even do it?
Well, sticking with the notion that there's nothing I can't do if I set goals for myself, I've decided that yes, indeed, I can do a triathlon.

You know why?

There's one called a Sprint. It's a 600m swim (roughly 12 laps in a 50m pool), a 12 mile bike, and a 5k. THAT-can be done. Separate those legs into individual training sessions, and it can be accomplished quicker than I think. Maybe if I bribe myself with Laventina's pizza at the end of it, I'll do it even faster!

You can do it too!Stinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15410556112117994261noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5996651645282580040.post-6215895808820597122008-09-15T17:37:00.000-07:002008-09-15T20:59:53.771-07:00Feeling Stagnant?<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_l1ExWWAdf0U/SM8vMZjdZII/AAAAAAAAABI/A7cQ2gbZ0cs/s400/IMG_1926.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5246463980974466178" />
Several times in life we come across a point where we just feel stuck. Whether it be the monotony of our daily routines or perhaps a job that we just aren't getting the most out of. Whatever it may be, there's always an answer.

What I've found throughout my journey in life is the excitement of a new adventure always spices up any ounce of stagnancy. Trying new things has several advantages: new knowledge, excitement, perhaps a new passion, a lead into a new path in life, emotional stimulants, and most of all-something different.

One of the worst things to do is let your "self" become lost in the mix of things. Life can become very demanding and also very routine leading some people to become unhappy with themselves and with their life. What can be done? Get up and go try something new!

Set some goals that will give you something to work towards. The ultimate reward of reaching those goals is more than enough to give things a spin. Some great things to try could be: training for a triathlon for a full body adventure, joining a book club for intellectual stimulants, learning an instrument or a new type of art, or even something like underwater basket weaving. Whatever interests you may have, take time to pursue them! It will change your life!Stinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15410556112117994261noreply@blogger.com0
